6:39 pm - To Post Or Not To Post
|
So yes, it's been forever and a day, which they say is quite a long time and I'm not inclined to argue.
Work has been good, very busy. We're about to move to a temporary location which will barely hold us, let alone all our crap. I want to shake my coworks and scream at them for trying to pawn off the crap they're trying to get rid of to one another - as if changing hands will REALLY make it go away. *Snorts*
Andy and I are doing well, I think he's asleep in the bedroom as I type. Poor thing, he was all tuckered out from playing Rock Band II with Lowell until midnight - which is late for us boring people. He's so cute, he decided a while ago that his rock back character would be me, and the running gag is that at least through rock band he gets to play with me while I piddle 'round on Pan.
Pan Historia is actually going well, I've got project and writing aplenty there and we're in the midst of trying out some viral marketing tactics - which really is my reason for poking around here again. *Grin* What kicked this off was a basic yet lovely survey put together by the site owner. So far much of the results have been fun and interesting, claiming that we're all smart, creative, artsey type folks who like to write. Honestly I'm not too surprised but now we have proof via anonymous survey.
So have ya'll missed me? Wait, I'd rather not know the answer to that. *Grin*

8:57 pm - This Is So Awful - But Really F'ing Funny.
|
So the boy climbed out of the backseat this morning reciting his ABC's - which is a little strange for a 12-year-old so Andy asks him what his problem is.
Offspring then hands over a pamphlet, titled HEPATITIS ABC.
WTF mate? Neither he nor I have any idea where it came from, but me being me I crack it open and start reading.
Commence obnoxious laughter to the point of tears. This has got to be the best pamphlet I've read in a good long while.
Anyway, so if you're brave please feel free to read Hepatitis ABC...

12:12 pm - PH Adrasteia Hatshepsut in PiRamesses (PG-13) - Bound Again and Approaching Land
|
Date: 06-15-06 18:52
The morning was cool and new, optimistic by far with the promise of another day of fair weather. It had been just a few days since Adrasteia had overheard the conversation about cargo and destination. Although her enthusiasm was bottled up, masked by her recent normality of quiet contempt and contemplation, she could not deny in her heart that she was excited to visit the land of her mothers birth, despite the unfortunate happenings that had caused her journey. The only depressing thoughts lingered on the fact the trip could not have been made with her mother and brother. Adrasteia could remember clearly, the fun and games her and Manethas Tothmoses would play, pretending to be in Egypt. Some days it would be dignitaries, other days it would be monarchs, often enough they would adopt the history their names bore which their mother had given them to honor great rulers of Egypts past. A good game to play was to see who could come up with the most sacred names, they would shoot titles at each other, the kicker was when Manethas would use ’Mighty Bull,’ since a woman Pharaoh could not claim such a thing. That was until one day it had occurred to Adrasteia to mock it by Minoaizing it. Eventually it became an inside joke for the two, the Mighty Bull jumper, it was huge entraining thought to see some Egyptian king attempting to leap a bull. ( They never did tell their mother the joke, for they could guess what she would think of it. )

12:04 pm - PH Adrasteia Hatshepsut in PiRamesses (PG-13) - Discovering the Destination
|
Date: 06-13-06 21:56
Silence ruled Adrasteia's world aboard the ship, quiet, cold, silence. It did take her a day or so to emerge from the darkness of the ships hull, but after that much time down below she found the cabin to cause her to be stir crazy. A breeze of fresh sea air was more than enough of an exchange for the constant eyes eagerly upon her skin. The only way Adrasteia felt she could save face with this new audience was to play off her noble stature. When presented with a pair of Mycenean eyes looking to her in her line of site, she returned it with her own steely gaze which pierced through to their fowl hearts. Such a belittling look to them as if to express the merciless pain they would each feel one day for the treachery they had committed against her, her lands, and the other lands from which they had stolen. So far this unsettling aristocratic response succeeded in causing any of the sailors to look away. ( Even the captain and his first began to grow uncomfortable by this, ignoring her as best they could, assuming she remain quiet. )

12:38 am - PH Adrasteia Hatshepsut in PiRamesses (PG-13) - Always Trouble
|
Author: Adrasteia Hatshepsut Date: 06-07-06 17:22
The ship swayed back and forth, and some solace could be taken in the lovely view of the sea with its vast horizons. Adrasteia thought it much better than looking at anything else present, the ship being occupied with unfamiliar and bitter faces. Minimal contact was attempted from the crew, and Adrasteia thought it best to oblige them since her desire to interact with them was very slight. The exception to this was the first mate and the captain, and Adrasteia could guess that the others kept their distance by order of one of these two. Leaning with her forearms firmly on the railing and looking out upon the blue waters she could almost believe that she was back at home, not where she was with these vile men on this horrible ship, taking her farther from her family only to be ransomed back to them at the benefit of her captors. Really, to her they were less than men, not even beasts, perhaps more like crafty birds and other pests picking at the scraps of the world and tearing at the fabric of everything beautiful-Thieves stealing from the hearts of the greatest civilizations. Adrasteia wished them nothing but pain in their future, and she hoped in her spiteful mind that she would be there to see it. Greater in her resolve was to one day squeeze the life out of that first mate, even though she knew she had not the strength to do it herself, although it made her feel better to think of it regardless. ( Perhaps she would not see the down fall of the crew, but most certainly the goddesses would permit her to take part in the giants ending, and that of his captain, of this she was sure. )

The guard upon the wharf called out, racing courageously up the boarding ramp, only to be answered by swift arrows piercing his chest. There was a brief splash as he fell into the sea.
Without fail, the wiry Mycenean who had moved to Adrasteias right now sprang in front of her, blocking her escape rout to the boarding ramp. He grasped her arm with his left hand, a dagger prime in his right. Effortlessly she twisted her arm free and swatted his weapon bearing hand sharply, sending his dagger scuttling down the deck. Just as fiercely and now squared into a boxing stance, she struck his face swiftly, causing him to stumble backward. Quickly, she spun around to make another attempt at escape, but nearly ran into the enormous first mate instead. ( Without hesitation she punched the giant as hard as she could firmly in his nose. )

|
You know, I realized that by starting with my first novel I'm starting with what's probably the worst. Isn't that sad? I've decided for ever ten PiRamesses posts I add over here I'll let myself go into others. There are so many Pi posts and they're not my best, which is rather sad considering.
What should be next though I wonder?

3:38 pm - PH Adrasteia Hatshepsut in PiRamesses (PG-13) - A lost Game, Stolen Goods, and a Missing Lady (2/3)
|
The road snaked around the rocky and lush hilltops. Trees peppered the path, and Adrasteia hummed aloud while trudging towards Petsofa, located just north of the palace city of Zakros. Her escorts, royal guards who had traveled with her all the way from Knossos, for the safety of her person, followed briskly just behind. The journey was little more than an hour by foot, the way was narrow and unsuitable for a litter, and regardless, Adrasteia wanted to make this visit as informal as possible. As they reached the clearing, Mycenean sails became visible from beyond the rock cliffs to the sea. ( Adrasteia paused for a moment, both in song and movement, the guards both looked at her. )

A lost Game and Stolen Goods
The royal brothers of Minoa laughed as they recounted their sisters slip off the back off the bull for Adrasteia’s final vault. It had been a friendly Bull Jumping competition to see which of the children of Minos would have to go to the far eastern Zakro palace docks. It was time for Zakros monthly survey of their docks, and a royal son or daughter had to attend to write the report. Minos suggested a Bull Jumping contest to see which of the six would have to go, starting off with the luck of the drawn between two of them; ( the two he drew were his son Echion, and daughter Adrasteia. )

11:27 am - My Fictional Writing...
|
In the spirit of once again utilizing my journal and sharing with those who might give a damn about my work at Pan Historia I've decided to start cross posting that fiction here too.
A couple of notes, with the exception of a few stories where I'm on my own these are part of a larger tale in collaboration with other writers. Therefore they might seem incomplete. Due to various reasons Pan Historia's novel boards, where stories are posted to, are private so non-members can't really go and read the rest of the story and of course as a matter of courtesy I will not be posting other writer's works. So, if your compelled to read the whole story you'll need to join (it's free for basic unrestricted features - like LiveJournal) otherwise you're SOL. Then there's that my writing is in several different Genres including History, Fantasy, Horror, Westerns, Sci Fi, and 'Other' so I could easily post something you might like or might not - be prepared to be wowed by my silly geekiness should you decide to brave the cut and read. There could be vampires or ancient Egyptians, aliens or faeries. Thirdly is that I participate in novels with varying maturity levels. I don't typically write anything to risqué or disturbing, but I will list the rating in the title with all the other pertinent information. Lastly, I claim no skill or competency in the writing craft. My work is riddled with errors of all kinds and is often convoluted or detached - often being difficult to follow or making little to no sense at all.
You have been warned. *Grin*

4:24 pm - Film Cells Anyone?
|
Quite a while ago, I use to splice up movie trailers and sell off the cells to collectors or make various fun things with them. Well, after I paid for an entire vacation with the profits, I moved on to other time consuming affairs, and the result is I have a lot of unsold product.
This being said, anyone keen on movie cells? I'll have to look up the list but I know I've got like a dozen or so titles, some good, some classic, and some, well, of my choice or the choice of a client.
What's prompted me to recall the gobs and gobs of film I've got laying around was when I cleaned out a few boxes from the closet, one which had slides from Lost Boys and Wizards (1977). These I purchased long ago for a client who never did go through with their order. (Alright, Lost boys was for me, I admit it. *Chuckle*) But such is life.
Sooooooo.... For now, anyone interested in Lost Boys or Wizards slides? Not vouching for the quality as they've been kicking around a craft box for years now,, but they are fun to have if you dig the movies.
Price? Well, depending on who (if anyone answers) a couple bucks or free. Chances are if I like you, free.
(No, there are no cells of David/Keither Sutherland, much to my dismay. *Sigh*)
Anyone need my digits to call for 'em? 602-508-8088

10:34 am - Fanny's Book Meme
|
This Meme is for Pan, but since Pan is down I pro tempor, I am posting it here. Once Pan is back up, I'll repost this over there.
Great job Fanny, pick me for a meme where I’m going to look like an utter illiterate idiot. *Laughs* Not being mean, at all, I’m honored that someone wants to know that I’m reading, even it that’s usually not much. I read avidly when I was younger, of which I don’t remember a whole heck of a lot, so my answers are probably going to be quite lame.
1. Total number of books I own: I would say no more than fifty. I would have to take inventory of the bookshelves, of which are mostly reference, and then dig through the boxes in the basement. Every one of them is covered in dust, by the way. Of course, I will admit that appears worse then I actually am, because as I read them I resell my fiction books or give them away.
2. Last book I bought: In a hurry I ordered Stephen King’s Cell. Freaking mail carrier, I’m pretty sure it’s lost. Though I have a list of about twenty books I want to get ordered as my short list, but I didn’t want to pick and choose through the list while getting Cell - I think at this point I’m going to have everything sent to my office. *Grumbles.
3. Last book I read: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. My friend had the fortune of seeing the play, bought the book, never read the book, and me being me, picked it right up off the coffee table, started reading, and didn’t return it until it was done. I’m one of those read whatever’s under your nose type people. Anyway, liked it, will probably reread it and hope that the imagery sticks.
4. 5 books that mean a lot to me:
Oh heck, this is the one which is going to be a pain in the ass. I have the darned time remembering what I did last weekend, let alone books were important to me. I’ll just go with what I can remember, which is going to be LAME. Most of them are from my childhood. (Now why is it I can recall these, but not selections from my short adult years???)
1 - The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause. I read this when I was really young in grade school. One of those ‘it made me like books’ books. I’m pretty sure this is where I get my favorite male character name of ‘Simon’ from. It’s imprinted, always going to turn my head when I hear the name. Silly little girl I was. 2 - His Majesty, Queen Hatsheput by Dorothy Sharp Carter and Michele Chessare. Once again, another childhood book, in fact, probably read at the same time as above. 3 - Cruel Tricks to Play on Dear Friends by Penn & Teller. Do I really need to explain this one??? 4 - Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. One of the few books I remember being assigned to read in class. 5 - Unknown Craft Book by Unknown. When I was younger I picked up this HUGE craft book, kept it for years until I had to drop everything to move many many moons ago. It was just a book about jewelry making, beading, and other crafts that I pretty much learned solely from this book.
5. Tag five people to take up the meme and answer in their own journals: Fanny already picked several who I would have, I hope you all respond. But my five now are: Bellatrix LeStrange, Belle Starr, Matt Black, Gardener With A Green Thumb, and Cressida of Troy.
BONUS!!!
Proceed on to the Pan Historia Book Meme...........
Here's the Book Meme more my style-----The Pan Historia Book Meme.
(Feel free to add salons to these, if you’re so inclined.)
1. The Total Number Of Novels (with Zones) and Reference Books You’re Apart Of: 12 (Without Genie – because that would be inaccurate since I don’t really choose what I belong to as Genie)
2. The Last Novel/Reference Book/Zone you joined: Turnskin
3. The Last Novel Post You Read: Two for Acquiescence By UsermaatRa Ramesses in PiRamesses.
4. Five Novels/Reference Books Which Mean Something To You:
1 – Midnight People. Even when lost and without personal plot, the main story keeps me engrossed, and the interaction and world retains my interest. 2 – PiRamesses, my home aside from my genre. It’s the active Ancient Egyptian novel I participate in currently. 3 – ACME Web Factory. Strange I would pick that Reference Book above other options, but I really feel it’s important. 4 – The New Kingdom. My deteriorating pet project of which I still have hope in. This is that story I refuse to give up on, even though it’s just me, myself, and I. 5 – Turnskin. My new and yet untapped storyline. A blank slate waiting to be written on.
5. Tag Five Pan Bloggers To Take Up This Meme In Their Own Journals: Bellatrix LeStrange, Gardener With A Green Thumb, Fanny Fae, Kat Black, and Wyatt Earp.

9:17 am - A Question Just For The Ladies
|
This question is just out of curiosity, more than anything, but I would like to hear a few viewpoints about it.
How do you feel when you discover that another woman is looking at you?
Now I don’t mean just a normal glance, not on purpose anyway, but really looking. She could be flat out staring at you, or just periodically distracted by the sight of you. It could be intentional, or subconscious, you just don’t know. What is your general initial emotional reaction or thought? Are you offended, flattered, just plain confused? Yes I know that it would most likely depend on the situation, so just try and make a generalization if you decide you want to answer. I know, chances are, this question is like opening a can of worms with some of you folks, but try and be good sports about it and take it on the spirit of the question.
Please feel free to answer by which ever medium you would like to if you choose to respond.

Highlands War:
This was a nice event. Great weather, warm enough most of the time that I could wear what I wanted without worry that I would freeze. Spent a lot of time volunteering for the Chirurgeonate, including a 10pm to 2am shift that was rather interesting for this not-so-night-owl. One person, who will remain nameless, made such a fool out of himself that this individual was my main source of entertaining gossip for the entire event, and I’m not one who’s big on gossip. Proved to many chirurgeons that I am indeed a first aid good luck charm, seemingly nothing evaluation worthy happens on my shift, ever. While I’m on shift, it’s generally band aides or ice packs, nothing more. Not that I mind, since that indicates no one gets terribly hurt, and I would not want that, but it also means that I don’t get the experience I should in order to complete apprenticeship. I also received additional compliments the day I dressed “Egyptian.” Valowolf, remember that I require copies of all images taken of me, you owe me pictures-don’t make me hunt you down like the wolf you are. *Grin*
So war was as expected.
~
Work:
Work is generally the same, but a co-worker just got a heck of a lot more interesting. Apparently, I work with a Witch. Well, Witches/Wiccians themselves aren’t all that unordinary within the scope of my little world. I know a handful from here, there, or where ever. But I did not expect this one at all. Usually I can peg ‘em, kind of like gay men. They tend to have similar characteristics or behaviors, I generally believe that it may be those traits that attract them to that belief system, but there are always ones who are more subtle than others. This woman, just by glance, did not strike me as one who thinks outside the “Ordinary” box in that manner, I was very pleased to learn differently about this person. I’ve liked this employee as a co-worker for quite some time, and now we’re able to have less work related conversations, which I always welcome. More details on this some other day soon. :)

12:15 pm - A NoteBook
|
So I was searching for an old notebook last week, one filled with odd quotes I've had kicking around for years now. I didn't find my quote bood, but I did find a different notebook which is far older, and of a more general nature. Most of what's in it is garbage, just a bunch of odds and ends, but there are a few pages that are worth keeping. So I've decided I'll put the stuff here for posterity, so I can toss the hard copy. Feel free to skip, as it's just random babblings.

In other news, off to Highlands War!

If Jesus were really like this, I would so be a believer. Also, I wouldn't mind making one of the skimpy angel costumes.
Another scene, it's just too funny.
Any reason for posting these? No, not at all, just for my own amusment.
Thanks again Robert.
